Welding Inspector

Qualification

  • Minimum SPM Level or equivalent academic qualification
  • Hold valid CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 / PCN Welding Inspector Level 2 or Level 3
    OR
  • Hold valid CSWIP WI 3.1 or 3.2 / PCN WI Level 2 or 3
  • Certified Radiographic Interpreter from CSWIP, PCN or equivalent

Minimum THREE (3) years related experience in oil and gas inspection

Perform quality control related function during minor fabrication and installation works carried out by CLIENT’s contractors at onshore, offshore locations and on Integrated Topside Maintenance vessel to verify compliance to CLIENT’s specifications. This scope normally includes but not limited to the following:-

  • Material inspection and verification and traceable check.
  • Verification of valid WPS and qualified welder
  • Assist in review of welding and NDT procedures generated by CLIENT’s contractors.
  • Welding inspection which include preparation, in process and completion of weldments
  • Ensure that all NDTs requirements are fully complied with specifications. CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE is to be consulted prior to approval of any waiver or alternative NDT tests
  • Conducting visual check and carry out conventional NDT such as MPI, DPI and thorough visual assisted by standard inspection tools
  • Witness all welding repairs and subsequent NDTs
  • Dimensional check of sub and complete assemblies of fabricated items to ensure compliance to approved drawing and specifications
  • Review and approve all RT films and reports
  • Witness all integrity tests including hydrostatic test
  • Witness special welding processes such as post weld heat treatment (PWHT)
  • Compile inspection report and punch list of outstanding items
  • Perform ad-hoc inspection to obtain first-hand information on the extent of damage or sudden failure to production facilities and performing follow up inspection pertaining to repair works.
  • Identify requirements for NDT’s such as radiography, ultrasonic test or other tests to verify integrity of weldments
  • Review and approved all radiographic test results
  • Review and compile fabrication documents
  • Issuance of completion report
  • Upon completion of each inspection activities, the inspector shall prepare and compile the reports as per requirements.
  • The final reports shall be prepared in brief and accurate with recommendations and to be written in English.
  • The report shall include some photographs of defective / deteriorated area / section / unit being described and to include line works or structural drawings / sketches.
  • All inspection reports shall be completed within the time frame as specified by CLIENT since it is a documented evidence to show that the inspection cycle has been completed. These reports are important source of information for other departments within CLIENT to use as terms of reference for subsequent inputs for engineering activities, planning and decision making processes.
  • Responsible to check and calibrate all inspection tools and equipment prior to all inspection jobs to be carried out and to reports the defective inspection tools and equipment to CLIENT. All defective inspection tools shall be rectified / replaced.
  • Responsible to ensure that all inspection tools and equipment are properly maintained, in good working conditions and fit for intended purposes.
  • To participate actively in technical discussions with other departments within CLIENT especially on the inspection findings.
  • Upon completion of each inspection activities, the inspector shall prepare and compile the reports as per CLIENT’s requirements
