Painting Inspector

Qualification

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent academic qualification
  • Hold the following certificate which shall be kept current and valid at all times:
  • AMPP Level II or IMM Certified Coating Inspector Level II / BGAS CSWIP or equivalent

Minimum of THREE (3) years’ relevant experience in blasting and painting inspection including offshore/onshore site experience

  • Perform periodic inspection as per CLIENT’s Guidelines and procedure or on requests to determine the condition as basis for assessment of integrity of painting / coating systems applied on CLIENT’s existing onshore and offshore facilities
  • Perform workscoping inspection to determine condition and identify and hence subsequently quantify areas on existing CLIENT’s asset which require maintenance painting. These findings will form basic inputs for planning and execution of maintenance painting work scope and estimation of paint materials, resources and required logistics.
  • Perform quality control function in major and minor blasting/painting exercises at onshore and offshore work sites.
  • These include witnessing, verifying & documenting the work at various inspection points such as:-
  • Environment conditions prior to commencement of any blasting or painting activities
  • Surface preparations and cleanliness
  • Condition of paint components, solvents and grid materials
  • Expiry date of paints
  • Correct mixing of paint components
  • Overall conditions of blasting & painting equipment and applications
  • Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) readings
  • Cleanliness between paint
  • Pinhole and holiday testing
  • Adhesion testing
  • Correct paint scheme
  • Adequate curing time
  • Qualification and experience of blasters and painters
  • As stated in the paint manufacture’s specification etc.
  • Perform condition monitoring on existing painting systems on topside of fixed offshore platforms as well as onshore terminals to support the CLIENT’s condition based maintenance programme or monitoring exercises.
  • Prepare daily progress report to record usage of painting materials, inspection activities carried out, etc.
  • Prepare and compile in a timely manner inspection reports in the form and format specified by the CLIENT. It is essential to emphasize the reports are not only documented evidence to show that the inspection activities have been completed but more important these reports will provide important source of information for other departments within the CLIENT to use as term of reference for subsequent engineering activities planning and decision making.
  • Responsible to check and calibrate all inspection tools and equipment prior to all inspection jobs to be carried out and to reports the defective inspection tools and equipment to the CLIENT. All defective inspection tools shall be rectified or replaced.
  • Responsible to ensure that all inspection tools and equipment are properly maintained, in good working conditions and fit for intended purposes.
  • To participate actively in technical discussions with other departments within the CLIENT especially on the inspection findings.
  • Upon completion of each inspection activities, the inspector shall prepare and compile the reports as per CLIENT’s requirements.
