Authorized Pressure Vessel Inspector (API 510)

Qualification

Hold API 510 certificates and shall be kept current and valid at all times

Minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in pressure vessel inspection and engineering in oil and gas related activities including offshore/onshore site experience starting from first API 510 certificate is obtained

  • Evaluate the suitability of pressure vessel for continued service, or for a change of service, or when making decisions involving inspection, rating, repairs and alterations an existing pressure vessel.
  • Provide direction for periodic in-service inspection of pressure vessel to assure continued pressure vessel integrity. The scope of inspection shall cover inspections from the outside of the pressure vessel including routine in-service inspections, external inspection and ultrasonic thickness inspection
  • Internal inspection shall also be carried out to ensure that the entire shell of the pressure vessel is in satisfactory condition, and to gather data necessary for the minimum head and shell thickness assessments mentioned above.
  • The inspector shall determine intervals between internal inspections. As an alternative, the inspector may consult the CLIENT to establish the internal inspection interval according to CLIENT’s guideline and procedures.
  • The inspector shall prepare specific work procedures and ensure that these procedures are followed when conducting inspections – to assure personnel safety and health and to prevent property damage in the workplace.
  • The inspector shall provide and maintain checklists of items for consideration when conducting in-service and out-of-service inspections.
  • The inspector shall assist the CLIENT to create and maintain a complete inspection record file consisting of three (3) types of records namely: construction records, inspection history, and repair/alteration history. These inspection records shall form the basis of a scheduled inspection and maintenance programme.
  • The inspector shall prepare and provide general inspection reports. The reports shall include metal thickness measurement, conditions found, repairs including reasons for the repairs, and sketches showing location and extent, and recommendations as to what remedial works must be performed on the pressure vessel in order to bring it back to API 510 standard.
  • In-depth review of engineering drawings and calculations, inspection reports, proposed fabrication and installation procedures to ensure proper application of approval codes and standard.
  • Present inspection findings and recommendations to the CLIENT and ensure implementation of the approved recommendations accordingly for certification.
  • Monitor and ensure that remedial work is performed by repair contractor per contractual scope and signed for acceptance.
  • Perform final inspection and certify the pressure vessel as being fit for service.
  • Perform any other works within area of expertise as and when required by the CLIENT.
